One of the main Rancho Mirage, California annual events is the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, a major celebrity golf tournament that supports charities. Another annual event is the Kraft Nabisco Championship Golf. It’s no surprise that in this retiree community full of gorgeous golf courses is home to some of the best known golf tournaments in the country. Here’s a little information about these exciting events in Rancho Mirage.

The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic is the single largest charity event in the United States, and it is held in and around Rancho Mirage every year in January. The event goes to benefit various charities each year, and recently, it has supported charities like Operation Enduring Families, helping families of overseas military personnel, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.

The goal of this particular tournament is to donate particularly to charities in the Rancho Mirage area, and over the past several years, the tournament has generated millions of dollars for the community. In 2008, the tournament raised and gave away $1,800,000 to local charities! Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this exciting event? This isn’t a professional golf tournament, but it is one that draws a variety of big name professional athletes as well as entertainers from various areas of the country.

The Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, CA is a tournament exclusively for pro women golfers. It was started by Dinah Shore in the 1970s, and you’ll notice when you visit the city that there is an entire road named after this entertainer. The winner of this major tournament gets over $2 million and an automatic ticket to the LPGA Tour Championship at the end of the women’s pro golf season. The woman who wins the tournament also gets to jump into Poppy’s Pond, which is a major moment of any pro golfer’s life.
